Buddha of compassion and wish granting

Buddha of compassion and wish granting

This is the third Buddha in this series, Varada Buddha, which is the Buddha of compassion and wish granting. Yesterday marked the end of Tet, or the two week celebration of the Chinese New year. There are many discarded offerings everywhere in the streets which take the form of phoney money, wax, gold paper and the images of ancestors.

This Buddha was created on January 7th, 2014, and left at the cafe, Ellie’s in Kampot, Cambodia.  It is made from brick, wax, fake money, gold paper, and found object. Artist Statement
