Artichokes are beautiful and weird, not to mention tasty. They grow to be 6.5 feet high and grow year round in Victoria. One day I found an artichoke that had been cut down a few weeks before. It had started flowering in the compost. The outside was completely dead and dried up, but from the centre of that brown husk the most breathtaking colours were sprouting. I was taught about how to grow artichokes from my friend Tara who is the strongest person I know. She is a doula in South Slocan. This show is dedicated to her never ending smile.
