Since Globular Cluster I’ve been working towards a solo show that will be at the xchanges gallery in May. I am now making my own molds using latex and casting glycerine soap, altering the result by deconstructing and reconceptualizing. It’s a kind of 3D collage; fun and playful. I’m still using light, scent and sound in the work. The display is just as important to this work as the small sculptures, questioning what makes something precious and creating a hide and seek setting that invites the viewer to collaborate.

The process of making these objects from soap is a discovery in itself. There is very little history of making art with soap. This is thrilling to me; it brings back my love of discovery, exploration, play and experimentation and success through failure, passing this excitement on to the viewer.
